Cathedral Parish for the Diocese of Lexington, KY
859-268-2861
Based on social distancing requirements, we will be re-opening the Cathedral to Masses with a greatly reduced capacity of those allowed at any one mass (slightly over 125). We will be using a ticketing system that will allow you to register for up to 10 tickets for any of our six-weekend masses. At this time, registration is open to the general public. Depending on response from week to week, we may need to set up a rotation (e.g. every second or third week) based on the family's last name in order that everyone would have the opportunity to participate at Mass on some regular basis.
There is a strict set of requirements for everyone coming to participate in mass. These requirements are in place to protect everyone involved as we seek to come together safely in communal worship. Please familiarize yourself with these requirements. Failure to comply may result in you not being allowed to enter the Cathedral or being told to leave.
Families/individuals that are isolating together will be able to sit close to one another, but strict social distancing must be observed at all times between family units and individuals, which is why our capacity must remain very low for each mass.
Barring an emergency, all entry to and exit from the Cathedral will be through Hehman Hall only. For your own convenience, park as close to the Hehman Hall entrance (off Providence Rd.) as you can.
You Must Register for Tickets to be Admitted to Mass
We are using Eventbrite to manage/administer registration for (free) tickets each week. Each Wednesday at 8:00 AM, a weekend mass link will be published here and in a parish E-mail that will go out at this time each week. That link will take you to the Eventbrite page for all of the upcoming weekend's masses.
Starting Wednesday at 8:00 AM each week, families/individuals can register for up to 10 tickets each week. The registration window will remain open until either all tickets are claimed or 12 hours before the start of each Mass.
We know we have parishioners who don't use computers, E-mail, etc. If you know individuals in that category, let them know they can order "will-call" tickets by phone at 412-848-9143. We will not accept requests for tickets by phone until after Wednesdays at 8:00 AM when ticket registration opens for the upcoming weekend.
Registration for this weekend's masses is now open! The registration window will remain open until either all tickets are claimed or 12 hours before the start of each Mass.
Showing Up Without Tickets
At approximately 10 minutes before the scheduled start of mass, the hospitality ministers/ushers will fill any remaining seats with those who may have come without tickets. We will do our best, but there is certainly no guarantee we will be able to seat you if you arrive without ticket(s).
Don't be late for Mass. If you have ticket(s) but are not in line by 10 minutes before mass is scheduled to begin, your seat(s) may be given away to those who have come without tickets. Doors open at 25 minutes before Mass so plan on arriving early.
Coming to Mass - Requirements
Before you leave home to come to mass, please be clear on the detailed requirements that apply to everyone coming to mass: http://cathedralctk.org/comingtomassrequirements
During Mass - Requirements
Mass itself will look quite different than it did before the COVID-19 pandemic. Please understand and be ready to follow the new procedures that will be in place at all masses at this time. You can get all the details here: http://cathedralctk.org/duringmassrequirements
After Mass - Requirements
Following Mass and with the help of volunteers, we will be performing some sanitization tasks to assure we have a safe/healthy environment for those coming to the next Mass.
Here are the detailed requirements: http://cathedralctk.org/aftermassrequirements
As we work out our process for beginning to hold public liturgies, one thing we know already is that we will need many healthy, younger men and women to support the liturgies as hospitality ministers (i.e. ushers) and to help with sanitization after each Mass. Many, if not most, of our long-term ushers, are in the vulnerable/at-risk population and we can't ask them to put themselves in danger by serving in this situation. If you are in the vulnerable/at-risk population, please do not volunteer and put yourself at further risk of catching this dangerous virus.
We really need a large number of volunteers to help in this effort. Without a sufficient number of volunteers, we may have to curtail our mass schedule. Please have a look here and let us know if you are willing to talk with someone to find out more so you can make an informed commitment to help: http://cathedralctk.org/helpatmass
Thank you in advance for your generosity and willingness to be a part of the growing team that seeks to re-open the Cathedral in a way that provides a safe and glorious worship experience.
