Christ the King is excited to announce a series of talks called: “Planning Ahead: The Spiritual and Practical Aspects of Aging”
In listening to the needs of our parishioners - old and young, parent and adult
child - we realized how important it is to address the issues associated with aging within our faith community. This is a multi-generational concern that is not easy to discuss. But the more we dialogue about the process and practical issues of aging, the better equipped we will be to embrace God’s plan for growing older gracefully and honoring our mothers and fathers.
Sister Joan Chittister, in her book, The Gift of Years: Growing Older Gracefully discusses the “enterprise of embracing the blessings of this time and overcoming the burdens of it.” Sister Chittister invites her readers to discover new ways in which they can live out their responsibility “to give the world back to God a bit better than it was because we were here.” “Aging,” Chittister says, “is not enough in itself. Aging well is the real goal of life.”
It is in this spirit that we invite all to a series of topics in this series which will be held on select Sundays between the 9am and 11:15am Mass.
