The Kentucky Alliance of pharmacy Students (KAPS) at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy plays a large part in volunteering and provides students to work every Saturday. Each year the College students hold an annual Spaghetti dinner, in which all proceeds go toward funding Faith Pharmacy. A silent auction will also be held during the spaghetti dinner. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and $6 for children (ages 12 and under). A table for 8 may also be reserved for $100, which will include a bottle of wine.
is a faith-based charitable project established by Christ the King Cathedral and Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church in response to clear evidence that thousands of people in Central Kentucky cannot afford the medications their doctors have prescribed. The pharmacy provides prescription medications without charge to indigent patients referred by physicians, health clinics, and social service agencies. Each Saturday morning patients are waiting at
, located at the corner of E. 7
Street and Elm Tree Lane, where volunteer pharmacists and pharmacy students fill prescriptions and counsel the patients. Attempts are also made to enroll these individuals in Patient Assistant Programs for further help with their prescription medications. Church members, social workers, and local physicians also volunteer their time to this humanitarian effort.
